Arcade space. Review of ZEROCRON

Short but intense battles. Ship upgrades. Interesting background.

The game is announced for the Windows platform.

LYRICAL INTRODUCTION

Studying the materials of the game, I was, to put it mildly, surprised, it turns out this project was developed for about 10 years by a fan of arcade games. He saws on a workbench, collects all sorts of ancient iron, and even crafts a slot machine from it. It was impossible to pass by this and I went into the thick of space battles.

The gameplay is an arcade space shooter.

Before defeating it, you should go to the settings and select the difficulty level (there are 4) and the control scheme. This can be changed at any time in the future.

And then 99 levels with increasing difficulty await us. They are quite short, but the intensity of the battle and the density of filling the locations increase when passing seriously.

New types and formations (the same opponents are built differently) of enemies constantly appear. Once every 10 levels there are especially dangerous creatures, something like bosses.

A significant part (but not all) of enemy shells can be shot down with your own shots.

There is a small https://ukcryptocasinos.co.uk/ character leveling system. Using coins obtained from enemies, we buy weapon upgrades and auxiliary equipment in a local store (opens every fifth level or when we lose). There are not so many types of equipment, but enough to calm down opponents in a variety of ways.

In the demo window you can see exactly how our ship will fire after the upgrade.

What’s interesting is that if we buy some weapons, we can then replace them in the store with ones of similar strength, but different. T.e. how the accumulative system of coins works, within the framework of which we equip ourselves.

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.

+ Simple but nice graphics.

+ Good music and sound.

+ Not very many, but enough types of weapons and equipment.

+ Many types of enemies.

+ Different difficulty settings.

+ Automatic saves between missions. If we die, we don’t start from scratch.

– No numerical/objective descriptions of weapon strength and upgrades. It is necessary to check purely experimentally which is better.

– You cannot replay already completed levels. Or didn’t understand how to do it.

– It is not clear what gives the gas falling from asteroids. It looks like glasses, but it’s not clear where to put them.

– The criteria for passing the level are not clear. T.e. should I kill everyone or something??

– Screenshots cannot be taken in Steam using the F12 button.

– There is no Russian localization of at least the text. Required level of knowledge of English – minimum.

A fairly simple space arcade game. There are many levels and weapon upgrades, many types of opponents. I liked that when you die you don’t have to go through it all over again.

PS: I probably didn’t cover all the aspects, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments.

PPS: The review was written based on the results of 1.5 hours of play (during this time 20 levels out of 99 were completed).
